7 Henry Air Barrier Systems Declared “Red List Free”

By enabling an effective building envelope, Henry air barrier systems make commercial structures more livable and energy efficient. But it’s not the only way that our air barrier systems are making buildings more sustainable. At Henry we’re proud to note that seven of our air barrier systems have been deemed “Red List Free” by the International Living Future Institute™ (ILFI), a non-profit group that promotes eco-friendly building standards.

What is the “Red List”?

The ILFI compiled the Living Building Challenge (LBC) “Red List” to identify the least sustainable, worst-in-class materials, chemicals and elements used in the building industry. These are substances known to pose serious risks to human health and the greater ecosystem. To help builders reduce and eventually eliminate the use of such substances, the ILFI developed the “Declare” label.

Think of the Declare label as a nutrition label for building products – one on which manufacturers like Henry get to voluntarily disclose information about their building product ingredients. Declare labels identify where a product comes from, what it’s made of and where it goes at the end of its useful life.

“Red List Free” air barriers from Henry

Following a rigorous review of their product supply chain and ingredients, six Henry water resistive air barrier systems have been certified “LBC Red List Free” – the highest possible Declaration Status available.

It means that building designers, developers, contractors, and homeowners can rest assured that these sheet- and fluid-applied water resistive air barrier systems meet the leading green building standards, including LEED and WELL Certifications. These six air barrier systems from Henry are LBC Red List Free:

Ultimately, the designation of these Henry air barrier systems as LBC Red List Free products demonstrates our commitment to a more sustainable future for the construction industry and the planet. Any manufacturer can just say their products are “green,” but at Henry we have the third-party receipts to prove it!
