This course will discuss the evolution of weather-resistive barriers, forces that affect wall assembly long-term performance, and how to select the right system for project specific needs.

Learning Objectives:

• Review exterior wall evolution and how it has impacted the way we design and construct residential and light commerical buildings.
• Understand the evolution of forces that impact walls due to construction evolution. Common forces include managing bulk water, maximizing thermal resistance, allowing assemblies to dry, resist air leakage, and limit early deterioration.
• Identify weather-resistive barrier systems and components. In depth view on the benefits and considerations for industry recognized WRB technologies.
• Highlight specification, design and material selection influences that may impact projects and long-term performance.
