Course #: BESAVB102-HNRY
1 AIA LU/HSW
1 IIBEC CEH
Advancements in air barrier technology, and higher accountability for indoor air quality, energy efficiency, and fire protection lead to increasingly complex design and construction requirements. This course reviews the principles for design and installation of exterior wall assemblies to ensure long term stability, code compliance, and occupant health, safety, and welfare. Topics include: Exterior wall design principles, 2012/2015 building code compliance, and air barrier technologies and critical installation practices.
Learning Objectives
- Learn why an air barrier is critical, and how to achieve an air and water tight building with code compliant air barriers.
- 2012 and 2015 air barrier and thermal resistance code changes.
- Overview of NFPA 285
- Air barrier technology considerations critical installation practices.
